The Firm

ProtoCap is a thesis-driven fundamental hedge fund that invests in crypto protocols and blockchain-enabled companies.  The fund is primarily focused on liquid digital assets, such as tokens and cryptocurrencies.

The Team

ProtoCap is led by a multidisciplinary team with backgrounds in technology investing, crypto entrepreneurship, and corporate finance.
Oliver Eckhard is a portfolio manager with 15 years of experience in corporate finance.  Oliver has spent the last seven years as an investment manager at The Observatory, a New York based family office.  Prior to that position, Oliver served as an investment analyst at Triogem Asset Management and then as an investment analyst at Orchard Hill Capital Management.
Oliver began his career at Ernst & Young followed by Goldman Sachs.  He holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science in business administration from the University of Muenster in Germany.
Arya Abedin is a portfolio manager who has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance and statistical analysis.
Arya has spent his career developing a fundamental understanding of how industries and companies interact with capital markets.
Arya spent 10 years as an investment banker, including at Morgan Stanley, Barclays, and Lincoln International. Most recently, he led North American coverage of the chemicals sector at Stifel.
Arya has also worked extensively with early-stage growth companies and the data economy through Xenia Advisors, a consulting firm he founded to advise companies on corporate and strategic financial management.
Arya began his career in marketing research, working at the global market research and consulting firm Ipsos and later at Time Warner Retail’s internal research group where he optimized marketing strategies using predictive analytics.
He holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in International Studies from The Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania.
Rouven Heck is a computer scientist with over 15 years of experience in banking information technology, crypto entrepreneurship, and self-sovereign identity (SSI).  He worked at Deutsche Bank in various IT and strategy roles in Germany, Hong Kong, and New York City before joining ConsenSys in early 2016.  In 2017, he co-founded the Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF).
In recent years, Rouven has focused on R&D in identity and reputation systems, ZK technologies, and DAOs.  He is an active member of various DAOs, including TheLAO, Flamingo DAO, Neon DAO, and Neptune DAO.  In 2022 he co-founded ProtoCap, a fund to invest in liquid tokens, and SiDAO to invest in the startup ecosystem in Puerto Rico.
Rouven holds a degree in Computer Science from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
